JOB SUMMARY

You will install and maintain wiring, controls and lighting systems. Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers. Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures and be confident and qualified to use the appropriate hand tools and power tools.

You will be able to understand technical drawings and you will work alongside experienced tradesmen of a wide range of disciplines, and perform in a safe and conscientious manner.

RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES

  • Review and report on electrical installations
  • Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
  • Remain in compliance with current Building Regulations that pertain to electrical work
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
  • Complete work orders and record material used on jobs
  • Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation
  • Use blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
  • Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans

SKILLS

Educations/Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition);
  • Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
  • Level 3 Award in Testing and Inspection, or equivalent
  • Level 3 Award in Approving Electrical Work in Dwellings in Compliance with Building Regulations  

Experience

Essential

  • Have at least 4 consecutive years’ experience of working on domestic electrics.
  • Working as part of a team potentially undertaking cyclical and servicing contracts.
  • Providing a customer focused service.
  • Partake in the delivery a range of projects on time and within budget.
  • Achieving challenging targets and objectives.
  • Evidence of achieving excellence in review and delivery of services and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Competence to undertake official PAT testing

Desirable

  • Designing and installing electrical systems in Domestic Properties.

Skills and Aptitude

  • Ability to identify electrical defects and their remedies.
  • Budgeting and financial skills.

  • Up to date health and safety knowledge.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislative frameworks and key issues relevant to the post.
  • Sound verbal, reasoning and written communication skills, with the ability to inform and educate colleagues should there be issues with an installation.
  • Ability to complete paperwork (to include timesheets, servicing paperwork) accurately and to a high standard.
  • Experience of working in domestic properties
  • Ability to record detailed and accurate repairs information relating to repair inspections or completed repair jobs
  • Able to use mobile electronic equipment
  • Experience of working with a range of portable tools, small plant, ladders and equipment to enable duties of the job to be carried out
